In The House of Tisroc

I am reading The Horse and His Boy, published by C. S Lewis (can you believe that he was born 100 years before me?). It is about a boy who escapes from his home and journey’s into Narnia. He needed a little help from a talking horse named Bree. This is the third book of The Chronicles of Narnia.

On his way, Shasta (that’s the boy’s name) found that he isn’t the only one escaping. He met a girl named Aravis who is also running from home because his dad, Tisroc, wanted her to marry Ahosta Tarkanan (and old and very rich man that she doesn’t like) and another (female) talking horse whose name is Arwin. On their way to Narnia, they all get lost in the city of Tashbaan and get separated.

Aravis needed help from her friend Lasaraleen to find Shasta who is now all alone in the desert. They have to go through the Old Palace to get to the desert and reach him. The two girls got to a room and hide behind a sofa when the Grand Vizier (his real name is Ahosta Tarkanan), the prince Rabadash and Tisroc (who is Rabadash’s father) came to the same room and started to talk in secret (guess where they sit). I predict since they are in a dark room, the girls will get away when the three men are not looking.

My prediction was not correct, instead the girls heard the whole plan that Rabadash was going to go past Arvand’s castle, then to Cair Paravel (Queen Susan’s castle in Narnia) and wait for the Splendor Hyaline, the cruise that Susan was on, and kidnap her when she got off it. She was going to be taken and be forced to marry Rabadash. My first question is: Why Susan doesn’t want to marry Rabadash? The answer to that question is that Rabadash is mean and cruel to people. What would Aravis do after she heard the plan? I think she would hurry to Narnia and mess up the plan. I had trouble with the word blot, so I went to online dictionary and found out that blot means a piece of dirt. Rabadash’s army compared to a Narnian army, the Narians would be a blot on your shirt.

  1. Wow Gabriel! Great work! You summarized a lot of the plot. I only saw a little evidence of your thinking with your two questions. Make sure you're not just giving me a summary of what happens. I want to see what was happening with your thinking! (Score: 85%
